Supervision Required by AHPRA when conditions are imposed

If you have got into strife with AHPRA due to a complaint, you are probably very stressed. If AHPRA have imposed conditions on your practice, you will be asked to nominate 3 supervisors for the Board to choose from. They have try strict requirements from both the psychologist and the supervisor.

I have supervised a number of psychologists in this situation and have provided relevant supervision to meet the requirements of the conditions. Psychologists often find it a valuable experience in spite of the stress and distress caused by the complaint and conditions imposed, and sometimes choose to continue with peer supervision on an ongoing basis once conditions have been lifted. Sometimes, supervision and support provided can prevent the likelihood of a complaint, due to talking through issues that arise before they become a problem.
